About Me

Hi there, and welcome to my blog! My name is Kendra, and I am passionate about knitting. Inspiration always seems to be just around the corner for me, and I want to share the joys that knitting has brought me, and desire to inspire you to be creative. The only limit you have to your creativity is your imagination, so let the creativity loose! I hope you leave this blog just as inspired as I am.

See you around!                                                                                                                      Kendra

So, who am I?

I am a conservative Bible believing Christian, a daughter of the King. I am a daughter to my parents, and a big sister to five siblings. I am a knitting designer, and crafter. I am a musician. I am a bookworm. I am a writer.  I am a Jack Russell Terrier owner, her name is Sanka (Hence the  SankaPup). I am the one and only, me!

I’ve been knitting for about six years now, although it’s only been these past few years that I’ve really been into it. I also enjoy a multitude of other crafts, such as crocheting, tatting, macrame, sewing, embroidery, spinning, dyeing yarn, weaving, bobbin lace, locker hooking (rug making), and scrapbooking. I’m homeschooled, and like learning Latin and Spanish, although the language of knitting is so much easier to learn! If you want to find me on Ravelry, an online knitting and crocheting community, my username is theyarnwhisperer.

How did I get started knitting?

I remember in 2004, sitting with my mother as she gently guided my hands through the repetitive motions of the knit stitch. Clumsily, I tried to follow her example, trying to be graceful, but instead making stitches so tight it was as though I was trying to battle my knitting. For years I worked on little square patches, never making anything bigger than a washcloth. Three years later, a kind lady at my church offered to teach me a little more about knitting. In my mind, socks were the ultimate achievement, and so she placed five double-pointed needles in my hands, and showed me how. Years of tight knitting had formed a bad habit of it, but my teacher taught me how to make friends with the yarn. Now, six years after my first knitting experience, I am intrigued with knitting.

Why do I find knitting so delightful?

Knitting is calming and relaxing, and the rhythmic motion mesmerizes me. In my opinion, knitting is more than just making something, it’s an art. Dyeing the yarn to get the perfect color, painting each stitch together to form something pleasing to look at, to feel the textured stitches and the feel of the yarn running through your fingers. Then, looking back at the completed object with satisfaction. Knitting to me is not just another craft to be mastered, it is irrisistably unique and enjoyable, and that’s why I find delight in the music of yarn and needles: knitting.
